3D CBCT implant planning in Amherstburg
Before an implant goes in, your dentist needs to see the bone it will sit in. SD Family Dentistry has a 3D cone beam CT (CBCT) scanner in our Amherstburg office at 79 Richmond Street, and our own dentists both plan and place your implants. Call (519) 736-1771 to book an implant consult.
What a CBCT scan shows that a regular X-ray cannot
A standard dental X-ray is flat. A CBCT scan builds a three-dimensional picture of your jaw, so the dentist can measure bone height and width and see where nerves and sinuses sit. That detail helps decide whether an implant is suitable, which size fits and whether bone grafting should be part of the plan.
Scanned, planned and placed under one roof
Because the scanner is in our building, you are not sent to another clinic for imaging and then back again. The dentists who review your scan are the same people who place the implant, so the plan made on screen carries straight through to treatment day.
What the scan appointment is like
- You sit or stand while the scanner rotates around your head
- The scan is quick, and you can breathe and swallow normally
- Your dentist reviews the images with you at the consult
Comfort during implant treatment
Sedation is available for implant cases. If you feel nervous about surgery, mention it when you book and our team will explain the options.
